bought this .54 15 yrs ago and have beat the stock up.So I sanded for hour's.THen with a damp rag as to take out the dust and wiped it down..Then a total of three coat's of boiled linseed oil..Each time I put the stock next to the heater[stove].Let it dry for a day,then put another coat on.

Ole cabinet maker taught me that trick! Linseed and a hot stove!! Finished it with a coat of bee's wax!(toilet seat ring!)

I have the Renegade 54 also and it's just as ugly as yours was. Haven't thought about doing any refinish work on it yet. Just taking up space in the safe for the last few years. Nice job on the wood. :tup:
