Title: Living on the East side
Post by: Griz231 on December 19, 2016, 05:47:15 PM
Man I love living over on the East side.  I took a look out the window this afternoon and spotted this guy about 3 miles out.  I headed over and got some decent video of him.  This is my first time using the phoneskope with my Vortex Spotter.  I ordered the bluetooth shutter remote a few minutes ago which will help a ton as it's tough to get any pics without making it fuzzy.

Great, something else now that I need to spend my money on. Bluetooth shutter remote...how have I never heard of such a thing?

Great buck. Thanks for taking the time to show him to us.

you can use the timer mode on your camera to help with the shakiness. set a 3 second timer and it should be done shaking by the time it takes.

that is true. Just figured I'd give the Bluetooth a try. My dang phone kept shutting off I'm assuming cause of the cold. Had to have it plugged in even though it was over 50% batttery. Thanks Apple.

If you have a set of headphones or earbuds that have the microphone or volume changer built into the line you can use the buttons in camera mode as a shutter button. That way you can take pictures without having to actually touch the screen. Just a thought, might be cheaper for people that already have a set. :twocents:

That's a good call!! I ended up buying the phone skope BT remote and it works good. Comes with a lanyard. It was $25 but the ear bud or timer will work just as good.

My issue now is this dang iPhone battery not lasting in cold weather. Spent 15 min doing video and pics off and on and my battery went from 90% to dead. I have the 6 plus and is 2 years old. Sure is disappointing.

Nice find Griz.  That buck's a stud!

I still like the West side though.  When I look out my window, I see moss.  Who doesn't love that??  :dunno:

He more than likely lives where he is not huntable.

yep he's in an area not huntable but who knows where he goes when he heads back for high country. There was a yote circling him and his buddy yesterday but the yote ended up taking off. Hopefully he survives the winter.

Nice 3x4 I found today. I needed to get closer for better quality pics but it was just about dark.

You could use a ruber band and a hand warmer to keep the phone from dieing in the cold. Works good with my NV scope
