I think I'm going to throw some cages out this weekend if I have time. All these pictures of everybody getting fur is making me jealous. I have no bait ready for cat trapping either so all the more reason to get out and trap.

Last year I had some fox digging and terrorizing my cages so I don't know how many but I have pics of 2 different fox from my trail cameras in one area last year

A thought on the fox. Zero experience here so you can take this or leave it but I'm wondering if you set a swim through both doors open with bait in the middle, possibly under the trap if that would give them enough confidence with being able to see clear through to go into trap.

A guy went to my cage and released a cat and destroyed the cage
I followed his tracks to his cabin and he admitted doing it and is freaking out on me so I'm going to press charges on him

Trouble is it is only a misdemeanor. Will the Prosecutor want to bother with it?Is there no exact amount he gets cited for from WDFW? Like having a barbed hook or speeding? If not, then maybe this will help get something like that on the books.

And I caught the bait thief at one of my cat cages a young female pine marten!! I gently got her out of the cage to be able to see if she was a female or not which was confirmed. So while she cussed me out I asked her to quit stealing my cat bait and released her . She ran right to the nearest tree and only went about 10' up and sat and watched me until I left

It helped that I had pictures of everything and a cop come even though it would have been way faster and easier if I would have had a state patrol or a game officer come out instead of a sheriff but this is my first time actually catching a idiot so I guess it's the learning curve

I know that's where you trap them,hake but they can be found lower down sometimes. Few areas near me are about 2500' and all my buddy's that go snow wheeling see there tracks regularly and occasionally see one running around. First got a late starting at 6:30 and then got stuck in the avalanche control for an hour and a half :bash:
Finally got over the pass to check traps and wouldn't you know it every trap was sprung and messed up by ya you know it COYOTES :bash: I've never seen this many coyotes at this elevation before with this much snow! But the one cool thing is that I went in a new area and cut some fox tracks so using some info from Machias I got 2 cages set I'm crossing my fingers

Ice in the pullman region has me stumped. I cant set any of my cages for beaver without them freezing solid. Gotta work on some way to suspend a swim through approx 6" below the ice. Good luck and I really hope you get some marten! Dream species for me.
Look on coon creek trapping supply and they have a adjustable 330 conibear support get 2 of them and hook them to your cage and you can adjust it to whatever height you want :twocents:

ya even with single digits or negative temp I'm in a hoody. Sometimes 2 but busting trail threw 3' of powder is a great work out. My bread will be froze while the rest of my head melts like butter. Just looked it up on my paycheck stub from NAFA.
NAFA graded it or call it a "Pastel" Mink
Keep it and have it tanned.
