Title: Christmas buck?
Post by: CoyoteCowboy on December 23, 2016, 05:39:52 PM
Anyone ever arrowed a blacktail this late in the year? Still have a tag burning a hole in my pocket and have until Dec 31st to fill the freezer.

Right there with ya! I made it out this morning for a few hours. Found 5 does but no shot opportunities. I'll be going out again on Monday.  Good luck.

Still hunting. All I am seeing is does and little bucks. Nothing worth shooting. Waited until the last day a few years ago. Might be the case this year.

I can take 'any deer' so not going to be picky... last year I took a doe and turned the entire deer into jerky. It was incredible; amazing how good jerky can be with choice cuts. Post when something hits the dirt!

Saw a huge doe the 2nd to last day of elk season. Made me wish I hadn't tagged out on the 8" spike I got in September.

Thank you!  It has been a very frustrating season. Maybe tomorrow I can weed through the spikes and does and catch something worth shooting doing something stupid.   :dunno:

Is that a Griffon in the boat?

Implications of what? Took a photo, now the eagles can finish it. Not a griffon, GWP. Just wanted to show the OP that yes, some nice BT bucks are still cruising around, and folks are getting them. I apologize for getting a lame contrversy started. Good luck to the OP, keep at it.

Implications of what?

It is illegal to pick up "deadheads". If you wanted a pic, you probably should have done it where it was laying and left it there. :twocents:

A dead-head, banded duck and a WPG!? Now that is a nice boat!

I have a 8-mo WPG who is getting his balls chopped as we speak  :yike:

With the head that clean I would most deffanitely say that's not from this late season no matter what was eating on it :twocents: I would say that dead head has nothing to do with blacktail still moving around

An eagle probably hauled it off to Idaho where he found it.  ;)
