20 coyotes in a week calling with my $80 ecotec. Bought a foxpro crossfire 2 yesterday and now I'm gonna get serious. Dogs were really liking fawn followed by jack rabbit and any time I played raccoon babies. Got 1 with the howl on the ecotec. Im hoping the sounds are much better with the foxpro but the cheap ecotec works well for uncalled dogs. Getting harder and harder to find coyotes that haven't had a rabbit squeal blown in their face.

You called in 20 dogs in a week? Or killed 20?

That's the real question!

Coulda swore when I read it yesterday it said 6 of the 20 took a dirt nap.
Great work none the less, that would 6 more dogs than I've killed this year.
-
Yup 6 down. I deleted that part because I was gonna add the stories but it made the post too long so I just saved it after deleting the stories. So 6 dogs down, 3 or 4 missed. Moving my calling stands into timber has been the biggest help.

I live a few miles south of melo. I've been seeing more and more dogs lately. I'm gearing up to start here in the next week or two.

Most, if not all property along highway 21 is private property as is 99% of all land from Curlew to Wauconda. I know, I lived there for 17 years.
Most of the ranchers will give you permission to kill the coyotes if you ask..

I went to a spot today ,three guys already setup there.it as crazy how much coyote hunting has come in ten years.

Certainly is. We found a couple of nice spots of state land across the street, surrounded by private land.

I know a rancher who has 3 miles of creek bottom near Beaver Canyon. He lives in the old log house there. If you stop in and ask him, he'll most likely let you kill the coyotes. Tell him, The Coyote Man, told you about him.

I need to hunt more down low. I've been going up to hills and calling in the woods besides 1 time outside of republic. Most everyone seems to give permission if you ask nicely and are polite. The older the folks the better it seems, 92 year old lady told me to "kill em all!"

For sure. They don't like ANY dogs!
