Anyone know about the status of the steelhead plant from last fall ???
Haven't heard anything locally about the fishery...
Worth a trip down??
-
maybe better said is the "fall before last" sorry about the confusion....... Fall of '15... Fishing was Awesome in Feb '16... What's to come with it is my question
-
I wanta make a trip for the big browns!

Fishing is red hot, big strong fighting fish. Getting unloaded is very dangerous right now, defiently bring gravel or a second pickup. Thinking about going out later this week but you will slide in till you hit the water. Depending on the size of your boat it may be impossible all together due to the water level.

This sounds like a great time; the launching that is. :chuckle:

Curious what the status of the Steelhead is? Are they still being caught? Size?

Boy....that launch has always been a nightmare. I watched a guy launch about a 24-28 foot boat out of it once.... :yike: :yike: :yike:. Fun lake to fish though....be careful on windy days.

The steelhead are anywhere from 15 to 20 inches, not over thick but nice length and pretty good amount of fat in the stomachs. The brown trout have died off in biting as of recently, spawning just happened pretty recently I believe. About a month ago I caught one very nice brown but that was it. The steelhead though are in two sizes though, the bigger ones and about eight inches, I believe they dumped more in the lake last year.....

Thanks Snakeriver

Watch the wind and the depth, some pinnacles out there will remove your lower unit. Is a steelhead a rainbow when it gets dumped in Rock? Tough migration from there
-
Yes they dumped 500k or so last year. You'd have to research the reasons why. West side politics!!!!!!
Hence the no migration!!
-
Never thought the launch was anything out of the norm for where I am use to launching.
-
Where's that?

Rock lake

Went to rock lake today for fishing, ended up with over fifteen fish to the boat between two people. Brought home seven 18 inchers, four rainbow and three steelhead, caught two 12 inch brown trout and let them swim another day. Few bank fisherman, needed four wheel drive to pull out, had to make several tries at it. Lake level is perfect!
