Title: Video Rifle Setup
Post by: @RCHER on February 14, 2009, 09:46:54 PM
I wanted to set something up similar to the rigs I've seen on a few varmint videos. Here's one I build with my little DV cam mounted on my NEF 22 Hornet. I've shot it quite a few times at paper and with it set to EIS (image stabil...) it's pretty steady.

I'm really impressed with the IR night setups I've seen on the air rifles. There's quite a few youtube vids of guys building these for small game. Pretty slick cuz you get to watch the flash of the pellet right on with the scope reticles. Check em out.

Have you tried anything like this? What's worked best for you?

I see what you mean, littlebuff. It's more of an illusion. This little mini-DV cam is only about 1 pound. The rifle and scope are small too. Not much weight at all and it's a pretty quick attach/detach mount.

Now if I can just get out there and have this rifle and camera setup with me when it's "GO" time.

No, but that's what's cool about the IR night setups I've seen. They mount the cam lens to the scope eye piece and so the reticle shows on the viewfinder and that's what they use - since the camera is now in the way. Makes for sweet footage.

Sweet set up. Look forward to seeing a video in the future.
