Title: Custom Cz 527
Post by: jdb on January 19, 2017, 07:02:48 PM
I'm thinking about having some work done on my 527. Mine has the synthetic stock which has to go. Any one know of a good after market? The only one I can find is Boyd laminate which look great but are heavy. Anyone ever lighten one? I also want to put on a lower bolt handle and lower rings. Again anyone do this? Last I was thinking about maybe haveing the barrel trimmed to 20" input?

Does yours have the HS stock now?

What caliber is it?

My 527 Varmint is a 17 Hornet and has a wood stock.  I had mine cut back to 21 inches when it was in getting threaded to run it with a suppressor.  James Calhoon can fix you up with the new style bolt handle if yours has the old version and he also has the lowest rings available for a 527 but only in 1in tube diameter.

I used Leupold rings one mine and it's pretty low still.

Jim Calhoon will take your bolt handle on trade in for a modified bolt handle.  He is in Havre Mt.  His Hunker rings are really low.

Rick Steinhour (Extreme Rifle Works) can put a 527 in an MPI stock for you.  He has done my Sako vixen action H&R, 317 Ultra Wildcat for me and a few Remington 788s.  The Ultra Wildcat is real light and trim in that stock.  Rick is back in Nebraska again.

Both of these guys are first rate.  It has been a long time since I weighed my Ultra wildcat, but IIRC it weighs about 5 1/4 lbs.  I doubt you can get a 527 down that light w/o going with an MPI Ultra Light stock because the 527 American barrel is a bit heavier than the Ultra Wildcat barrel.  But you may be able to get it as light because my Ultra Wildcat is 17 cal.
