Title: Brisky Bows Traditional Archery
Post by: Grasshopper on January 27, 2017, 07:20:07 PM
Brisky Bows Traditional Archery located in Ferndale, Wa.  I have been making Traditional/Primitive equipment for 25 years.  My bows are made from all types of wood, designs and sinew backings.  I have hunting bows, target bows and kids bows.  I keep 10-12 dozen wood arrows in stock at all times.  I have arm guards, shooting gloves, quivers, Flemish twist strings, Yew wood, Osage, Vine maple, Black locust and Hickory staves.  I offer shooting lessons for beginners to hunters who are trying to find their right arrow weight and spine for hunting. My weekend bow building classes is what keeps me going.  I take 6 students at a time to make their own custom longbow or recurve in just one weekend.  The class is a memory of a lifetime.  Do something you've always wanted to do.

My 10 year old made a bow with your instruction at the WA JAM camp at Silver Arrow Bowmen probably 2.5 years ago.  He had such a blast making it, and until he outgrew it that was his favorite bow.

Glad you replied.  This years Traditional Bow hunters of Washington's WaJam for kids is July22,23.  This year it will return to the location of Flint tip Archers of Enumclaw.  I am taking applications now to register for kids 10-16 years of age.  I can send you a flier if you are interested.

I can vouch for Curt. He is a great guy. He helps out on the Trad shoot every year at Silver Arrow Bowmen. He always brings his gear to the shoot and often puts on a demonstration of  how the process works. I'm really happy he took over running WA JAM to keep the history of making self bows alive. I have shot the Club with him several times over the last few years, but I have not had the pleasure of taking his class YET... I have been eyeing bow-wood when I'm out hunting deer or shrooms.

Take his bow making class and bring it to the club on March 18-19. We always make sure it's a good time.

If the 4-H archery group gets the flier I'll get one from them.  Or, if you put it on your website I'll just get it there.

I would like some help finding kids to make longbows at our Washington state WaJam.  I have only eleven kids at this time but I would like 25 kids.  Please go to Tbw.org to find the application for signup.  This event is being held this year at the Enumclaw Flint tip archers club.  This is a two day event.  Parents are encouraged to stay to make a memorable weekend together with your kids.  The application will be sent to me at:

I may be able to get you some kids to attend. I did a scout intro to archery last weekend. They will be working on their archery badges this summer and I think they would be interested. They are also local to Enumclaw. I forwarded the information to their leader.
