Title: Gun transfer from California
Post by: GoBeavs85 on February 19, 2017, 07:02:04 PM: My uncle lives in California and I live in WA. None of his boys hunt or shoot and his health doesn't allow him to get out anymore. He wants to give me his rifle. How can I make this transfer happen legally?

I'm assuming I could pay shipping and fee to a dealer here in WA. Any recommendations for the tri-city area?

My other thought is that I will be on a road trip in CA in June. Can I pick up the gun and just drive it home? Any issues with a family transfer across state lines? I'm not a felon, no criminal record of any kind. It's just a standard bolt action hunting rifle.

On one hand it seems like family should be able to give each other guns no problem. I also know the nanny state is regulating everything as much as possible. So whatcha think?
