Title: For those that have been to Alaska
Post by: Russ McDonald on February 20, 2017, 06:16:33 PM: We are planning an Alaska cruise June of 2018. The best time I can fish is when we land in port in Skagway. We will be there from 7 am until 9 pm. I see the kings are running during that time. Does any one have a recommendation for a guide and has to be fairly close by.

If I remember right, there were only a handful of options and most book directly through the cruise ship as tours. No real need to book a private trip unless you want to. Not sure if that helps any.

Will you be stopping in Sitka?

Post by: 7mmfan on February 20, 2017, 07:07:36 PM: The kings in Skagway are all Hatchery fish returning to the creek in town, chances at a big Alaskan king are virtually nil. Probably have a better shot in Ketchikan, but it doesn't sound like your schedule will allow.
