Title: boots and gloves recommendations
Post by: floatinghat on March 03, 2017, 07:19:49 AM: I want to swap out my boots, my current boots are stiff and support well but are loud. I typically will get back 5-10 miles on roads and trails. So once back there I don't want to ruin a stalk with my boots, any recommendations? 10.5-11 W.

Gloves, light/lighter weight and water proof. Something for those nasty wet western WA days of late elk / deer. They don't need to be camo, green or brown would be just fine. It seems most everything is heavy and insulated

I think most hard sole boots are loud. You can really creep with XTRA Tuffs. Dead silent and waterproof/scent proof. I like Lowas. I have the Tibet Gtx HI and they are sweet

Post by: floatinghat on March 06, 2017, 11:56:10 AM: Thanks, I have seal skins for fishing, they don't work for me. I just don't like the feel of them. But I will look at the GTX's. I know someone who swears by ultra tuffs, so I might have to try them out. I have a pair of bogs that might work along that line. My only concern is lack of support and walking/biking and hopefully packing UT/Bogs etc.
I'll have give that thought process a go.

It close to $5 for a pack of 10 or 12 can't remember Wells Lamont is the brand. I use them for work gloves mostly but I used them for duckhunting and shooting my bow at the archery club. They are cheap black semi waterproof all synthetic. Don't work awesome when its really cold but I did use them while duck hunting when it was 20 degrees out. I did have pockets to stuff my hands into.

The ones with extra padding are sweet dirt bike/motorcycle gloves. 2c

Post by: Fl0und3rz on March 06, 2017, 12:37:36 PM: I just used the straight base black pair. They were warm and the material reminded me of my OR windstopper material, yet thinner. Good grip. Good dexterity. Warm and cheap. I'll see how they hold up in the wet weather.

Post by: Alchase on March 10, 2017, 10:39:04 AM: I sometimes still use Mechanics gloves when hunting. Hunting Winthrup area I was going through multiple pairs each trip, and they suck when wet.

For everyday use they work great.
