Title: Cowlitz River stealhead
Post by: ridgefire on March 21, 2017, 06:16:44 AM: Anybody know if any fish are being caught? Planning on heading there this weekend and haven't heard much about it yet.

I didn't see a single net go up for 4-5 hours. The next day the boat we were on only landed one. Maybe it'll pick up again by this weekend.

I'll be down there tomorrow plunking in the lower river somewhere if it's fishable when I show up.

Plunked below I-5 this morning until 1pm, utter dead zone for us and all we spoke to. Headed up to Blue Cr. and laughed at the madhouse for a minute and only heard of minimal success. Spent a couple more hours plunking down from Barrier Dam, again a dead zone. A motivated steelhead could probably get over Barrier Dam right now the water is so high.

Seen maybe 5 nets out up till about 11am! I'm gonna go fish in the mud down at cathlamet tomarrow, at least it will be more relaxing! :chuckle:
