wondering if anyone knows if fish lake north of Leavenworth is unthawed yet? Would love to take my boys over during spring break if so. I've tried calling the cove numerous times with no answer. Figured that may be a bad sign?
-
Nope.
-
Lake Wenatchee still has ice on it.....its going to be a while
-
Wow, that's crazy, yeah I'd say it's going to be a long while before it thaws. It's been a vicious winter..
-
Actually, the lake is "unthawed". That would be the same as saying "It's frozen".
-
Ice is still hanging on. Crazy.
-
Lake Wenatchee broke up yesterday. With a little wind and 50 degrees one would think fish lake would be boatable by next weekend
-
I'd think so. It's amazing how fast it comes off once it starts.

:chuckle: haha, your right I'm a idiot!! I meant thawed.

No kidding. I watched it happen at Fish Lake a couple years ago, was amazed how quickly it went from full ice coverage to nothing. Less than 24 hours. Great fishing right after the ice broke up.
-
Is the cove closed this time of year?
-
During the frozen months yes, there is normally a drop box you can dump your parking $ into. If you just looking for gas and beer Midway is open year round
-
Here we go.
-
It's starting to breakup!!
-
Any fish in there?
-
The state plants the hell of it with rainbows, there are a few browns and a good crop of perch
-
So they are planting legal sized fish when it thaws?
-
I have not looked the planting reports I think they do it in the fall, and several times over the summer. Historically there they are pushing 100,000 per year
-
I just had to pull the stocking report but it was bugging me now. 14,500 RB between April and June. 50,000 put and takers in November and 216,000 fingerling in May of 2016. There are a couple of fish in there.
-
Nope everyone move along, there's no fish in fish lake, everyone just stay over on the west side and fish your local lowland lakes.
-
We will as long as you stay in Centralia and fish your lowland lakes

My childhood was spent in the White River valley. Growing up my boat was moored at Telma, I used to drink beer underage at the Cougar Inn, any one remember the Oxbow Inn and the "Let get Ugly Contest"? The road was not paved past the Lake, and during the high hunt in the 80's I used to take my Z50 up to Grasshopper Meadows and see the deer hanging in camp. I had to flee farther east. The coasties had to move east when the California's headed north. Wonderful childhood and it will always be home...makes me sad the L Wen Valley has turned into Yuppieville.
-
It was too bad when the Cougar Inn was sold and Microsofties started moving in and enforcing their big city politics and regulations on the area. Family friend had a place right on the lake and we would launch right from his place to fish. Time has moved on
-

Pretty sure I have said unthawed in the past, maybe even regularly. I feel dumb :(
-
Getting closer!
-
Those little slimers are hungry when the ice comes off.
-
It's looking like a trip to fish lake is gonna happen this coming week!!
-
Jeez, with those conditions, don't forget your speedo.
