Well the first time ever, I have no Turkey Hunting partner committed this year. A chain of events have one way or another put all the usual suspects on the bench.
I have a 14 year old grandson I will take out for a couple long weekends, but school gets in the way for him.
So I am playing with the idea of a solo trip to hunt and scout new areas.
I have hunted Sherman Wildlife Area
Coleville Refuge(Little Penn)
Asotin WLA
Looking at the Soda Springs Wildlife area???????
Everybody has their favorite spot I know.
If you had a week to go any public land in the state . Where would you go?
I can pack up and go anywhere I want for any week I want. Dispersed Camping. Planning to go lite and just take my tent cot and a stove.
Anyone got info on Soda Springs?
Any other suggestions?
I have a Spring Bear Tag for N. Skagit. I could just stay home and do that. But am having a hard time , passing up a little Turkey Hunting :dunno:
I guess I should also throw in that I have a boat load of Quality deer points. I could fore go turkey and put in for a quality deer tag .

If you have a spring bear tag - go get one! Lots of us only wish we had that opportunity this year.

:yeah:
Take the grand son with you on the bear hunt. Usually lots of elk and grouse to see on the hunt.

Well ya.
But not really a hunt. The spring bear is in my home area. I can leave work and in 40 minutes be behind a number of spring bear area gates. Not saying it's easy it isn't.
Just saying no. Camping ,no,tent, no fire. Familiar country. And a two month season to get the grandson out. Grouse will be closed. So yotes is all he could shoot.

I went for turkey in soda springs a few years ago... Saw a couple but not much action. I'm not much of a turkey hunter but there has to be much better areas in WA for Turks.

If your looking for a partner for a day or two in the northeast. Let me know. I have a lot of time with my job and will be hunting a couple times a week. Its nice to hunt with someone else instead of solo all the time.

If you're going to drive all the way across the state to hunt turkeys for a week I would not go to soda springs. I'd be up around colville if it were me, or maybe down in the blues but I don't have any experience there.

To The OP I haven't turkey hunted in WA before (moved here about 5 months ago) but I have been scouting A LOT and one of the first places I went was Soda Springs. Place is crawling with guys shed hunting and what not and this was even over a month ago when there was still decent snow on the ground. A lot of access in to Soda Springs by truck so I'm willing to bet its going to be loaded with guys in there. Just a heads up and best of luck with your bear and turkeys!
