Is there any way of tighting the spring inside the bolt so it will hit the cap harder? I feel like my fireing pin isn't hitting the cap hard enough. It took 8 caps before one went pop. There brand new musket caps. Might try #11 caps and see if that solves the problem

The spring is replaceable. Call Traditions & they will sell you one for a few bucks. Unfortunately, the Evolution bolt needs to be disassembled and cleaned every time you shoot the gun. It gets very dirty after just a few shots. Then you get misfires. You cleaned it lately? :twocents:

Just took it apart. Boy was it DIRTY. Gave it a good scrub down. Spring looked tight tho. Try it again tomorrow. Should I clean it bout every 5 shots or so

I would suggest cleaning the bolt after each range trip...

Just got done shooting after a super scrub down on the whole gun. I can shoot 4 times with no miss fires then after 4 the bolt must start getting pretty dirty and isn't hitting the cap as hard as it should. Guess she'll just have to be squeaky clean 24/7.

Never had a problem with my two after cleaning them after every shooting day and switching to musket caps.
The only problem I have with them is how tough getting the bolt out of them are. Gotta really yank sometimes.
