This deer is one of my friends late fathers bucks . She says she thinks its from around ellensburg . Anyways , it looked like something more coastal or from more southern wa .

By the dimensions, I'd guess it's a blacktail if I had to guess. I wonder if someone has stained the antlers. They're awful shiny.
It's a pig of a buck either way. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah they seemed to have been laquered or something of the sort . But yeah it sure is a toad , my jaw dropped when I saw it for the first time !

Looks like blacktail antlers.
-
I'd also say toad blacktail!

Any approximate guesses on a score ? Sorry for the junky pics lol

What's it smell like?

Looks like a blacktail. Probably shot along time ago. It was a big thing in the old days (pre-1970's) to lacquer your horns with varnish to make them shine like that. Also most people hung their horns outside or in a barn and it would preserve them. Just my two cents. If it is a muley, its a real nice buck. If its a blacktail, its a monster trophy! My guess is that it is a blacktail but I'm not sure.

Call Boone and Crockett office in Missoula (406.542.1888) and get a DNA research kit........$125 and you will find out a lot with the sample. It just takes time to collect the sample and money to buy the kit....Buzzi
