Not many Bull tag draws for Muzzleloader. I have 11 Bull points and was looking at this draw???? Any info would be great or should I just save up the points when I draw the multi-season tag. I haven't chose my tag yet so I might go modern, I won't be able to draw by bow this year because of shoulder surgery.

Is that a bull or quality hunt? I thought most muzzleloader tags were quality hunts.

I love that country out there and have applied for this tag before. Big steep and gnarly! There are elk but it is also limited in the land you can hunt. Benefit is there is only 1 tag for ML, downside, there is only 1 tag, extremely hard to get. I wouldn't recommend this tag for anyone who hasn't been there and/or wouldn't be willing to do quite a bit of planning/scouting to hunt it. It's a long ways from nowhere and not easy to make a bunch of trips for scouting purposes.

:yeah: Co-worker had been hunting it for modern deer the last 3 years. hasn't killed one yet (though he claims he could have shot a small 3 point last year but not worth the pack out). Elk are more scarce than deer from what I understand.

There are some awesome muzzy elk tags if you know where to look.
As far as the GR Bull tag, that's my back yard and I don't put in for it. If you are getting shoulder surgery I would rule it out. Tough going country for sure, and the access is poor. It would be lucky to catch a bull on the minimal public land over there and all the private gets almost zero hunting pressure. Your bull points are best used somewhere else.

Gotcha!! I miss took the comment!
As far a Muzzy "BULL" tags I have heard that those ones down in those tree farms towards WW can be good but I don't know.
If your wanting a high success rate I would advise the 1040 unit. I know its spike only but you'd kind of have the run of the place, only two tags and good game counts in that unit

Allen23 is spot on. Small unit, any elk are quickly spooked to either private ground or into Oregon. Not saying there aren't some nice bulls in there, but pretty darn hard.

Hunter it last year during quality deer hunter hard for 5 days saw a ton of elk but they were basically on the sides of cliffs that would take days to get to and we're difficult to see with the naked eye. Land access is limited due to private land and the ranch hand drives around patrolling the roads and a helicopter flys over to see if you are in their property... people may have different opinions but this is what my hunting party experienced
