Is there anywhere around tokeland, grayland to dig horse clams?
-
There's hawks point off highway 105 or nemah off 101 but both are closed right now do to bio toxins.
-
Hawks point does have them? I have racked steamers there was wondering if I could get horse clams there. What do you look for to get them?
Also I just checked with the health dept. and Hawks point, willapa bay is open for all clams except razors.

I usually find hrose clams in the same place as steamers. Just deeper.

Horse clams stick their neck out of the sand like a geoduck. So look for a hole in the sand with a neck in the middle. You can also look for them squirting water as you walk around the beach. If you touch the neck it will retract, leaving an empty hole about the size of a silver dollar. Start digging.

Thanks for all information, I will have to look at Hawks point next time I rack steamers. How deep at they?
-
A foot or 2. Is there any reason your looking there instead of Hood Canal? Are you getting them for eating or bait?
-
Getting them to eat. Not sure where to go on the hood canal, where's a good place on the canal?
-
Dosewallips an duckabush have them.
If you can get to hope island in MA 13 it's loaded with them.

Yep. Dosie and Duck. Sure there are a few other places too. I don't care for them. The bonus is you can get steamers too!
