Title: 5th Annual Salmon For Soldiers AUGUST 26th, 2017
Post by: Fish4Fun on May 09, 2017, 01:40:37 PM
So here we go again for another day of honoring our Veterans with a day of fun, friends and fishing! This August 26th, our goal is to have boats out on the water for Silver salmon!

Each year we dedicate a Silver Horde special edition spoon, for a fallen soldier. This year we are honoring Aaron Blanchard ( “Colockumelk” ),  the Blanchard Family will be here for the event. It will be an honor to present them with our Silver Horde spoon.

We are looking for boats again this year, To register your boat, please contact
Randy Shelton 425-330-0415 or e-mail at cabincreekadventures@yahoo.com

Check out our Salmon for Soldiers Facebook page and the website launch of http://www.salmonforsoldiers.com/

For all of you who have joined us in past years, thank you again so much for your dedication, enormous contributions and patriotism! For those that did not get a chance to be there last year, now is the time to get in on the action! This event is expected to fill up fast and space is limited....

So is the event going to be in Everett and we shuttle the boats and fish back from somewhere down south?  I assume we're not running from Everett to MA10 on the water.

Yes, the event will still be in Everett as usual.
The plan is to run from the Everett Marina to Area 10 by boat. Might be pretty tough to get boats and Vet's to another place and back to the site for the afternoon BBQ.

Stein, give Randy Shelton a call and chat with him about driving South then getting back.

We had an amazing day with our vet.  Our original guy didn't show, but we we lucked out and got paired with a guy that was as good of a boat mate as you can get.

We managed to limit him on salmon and crab and sent him on his way with a full cooler.  We also set a new boat record with an even 30 shakers.  One rod caught one at least every five minutes all day.

I was incredibly impressed by the SFS organizations and all the volunteers.  It is absolutely a class act and we can't wait for next year.

From the Salmon For Soldiers Team, thank you to the boat skippers and deck hands that came out to support our veterans on Saturday August 26th. The day was a huge success, the water was calm and the fish were plentiful and willing to bite. I believe most if not all of the boats got fish for their guest. The feast at the BBQ Saturday afternoon was a great time to see old friends from the previous 4 years and make new ones.

Everyone should have gotten the Silver Horde spoon at the BBQ. This year we honored Aaron Blanchard, many here on Hunt Wa knew him as Colockumelk. I had the honor and privilege, of having Aaron's son Hunter, and his younger  brother Karl on the boat. We had fun, caught and lost fish all morning. Hunter, was given a custom built rod with inscriptions to honor his father, and to remind him for years to come of the 2017 Salmon For Soldiers event.

Thank You again from Salmon For Soldiers, and Team FISH 4 FUN
