I ended up not getting a chance to get out and looking out the window I can't say I am too disappointed. Let's see the pics and reports, you must have crushed them since I was at work.

Here you go. From the opener. Confession: I caught one of the smallest buts on the boat, I picked up a bigger one for the photo op and the deckhand picked up the little one I caught and stepped into the photo for a little truth. Had a blast on the Gold Rush.

Beautiful!
We're you guys over in Neah Bay?

We fished Neah Bay, the weather was beautiful for halibut fishing all 3 days where we went. Lots of people got skunked but we had a great time and landed around 40 butts in the 3 days. Day 3, yesterday was our best day, we kept a 42, 38, 34 and 28.
Someone spin the first one please.

Yesterday was a good day to have missed, at least in Westport. We got blown off the water after just a few hours with much of the rest of the private fleet. Didn't hear of any being caught. Hopefully that means we'll get at least one more day before they shut it down.

Saturday was a beautiful morning on the water at Hein and Middle Banks, pretty much dead calm until the tide change, then the rain and wind hit.
We caught no halibut and I would guess no one else out there did as it was quiet enough to hear a whale blow more than a quarter mile away so I think we would have heard an excited angler.
Bobcat did manage to pull up a just legal ling before we headed back to port tired and soaking wet.

You get another day now. WDFW is opening it back up next sunday--21st.

Neah bay

Nice work folks

Had to look a little harder for better fish, but boat limited on butts and lings again Sunday. Rough ride out and back but knowing the right numbers to fish at was the secret. ONe spot for the butts and another for the lings. Cold and overcast.

Nice!
-
Wow, that's a lot of good eating. Nice work guys and gals.
-
Nice fish! Hoping I get my chance Sunday.
-
Well, I got out yesterday and we hooked into a big one. 15 mins later and a couple runs to the bottom we had her in the boat. According to big salmon I have the largest halibut landed so far in 2017 with this 135 lb beauty.
-
Nice hawg Wetwoods!
-
Awesome fish, for WA that is trophy size for sure.
-
Most expensive fish I have ever landed, most people would get the tail mounted I am getting a replica made of the whole fish. Dave Campbell in Tacoma is doing the work for me. I will probably make another tread when I get it but its going to be over a year.

That will be cool! Don't see many halibut mounts around. Hope you have a big wall for it!
