:IBCOOL: Yesterday morning, since the wife was out of town, I went fishing. Didn't have to load anything but water because my gear lives in the pu. Get to the lake and first cast, Fish On! Put it on the stringer. Then there was a lull in the action for 1/2 Hr. Then it was boom, boom, boom. Every time the bait hit the bottom I was getting bites. Couldn't even get the slack out after the cast and they nibbling (Had to be little ones, they went after it like piranhas) Well after landing my limit and flicking off two ticks, I head home.
Once home I toss the trout on to the table out side to process them and find that the very first fish caught was tagged.
This morning, after finding my phone (which also lives in the pu and is always dead) and recharging, I call the # on the tag. The gal said that something wasn't right with the tag number and the system told her to follow a different protocol and contact a supervisor. This could be something interesting she said, if it's not on her list.
For a 1/2 hour I waited for the call, thinking, what could the prize be if it's not on her list and she has to go to a supervisor ? This could be a mega prize that wasn't published !
When the call came, I was informed that it was an operator error, that is why she was directed to a supervisor.
The end result is that I get a $25 dollar gift card for Ranch and Home in Kennewick.
That's a $25 dollar fish I caught :IBCOOL: I have never caught a tagged fish and by god it will taste good !!

:IBCOOL: Scored another tag the other day. Another 25 bucks at ranch and home. Total of $50 at the same store. With luck, I'll catch another to help with a new reel I need for fall salmon fishing.
It took all week to get through to wdfw with all their recent troubles.

Nice, that's almost like fishing for free, LOL

I've been fishing and catching in a lake stocked with tagged fish but putting back the fish since I didn't see a tag and had no real need for the trout. I assumed the tag was on an outside fin or something obvious. Did you have to clean the fish to find the tag?

I accidentally embedded my text in the previous quote. I mean to ask: I've been fishing and catching in a lake stocked with tagged fish but putting back the fish since I didn't see a tag and had no real need for the trout. I assumed the tag was on an outside fin or something obvious. Did you have to clean the fish to find the tag? And, congrats!

No. The tag is tube shaped, yellow, about 1 1/4" long and hangs next to the pectoral fin on the back. Both mine have been on the lft side.
The first one I didn't notice until I got home to process.
Good luck !

Nice, glad I'm not the only one to get one on here. I notice your tag is orange. Both mine were yellow as well as the little baggie they had at ranch and home with others that were caught. Regional difference ?
-
Mine was from last year. I don't know if they change color year to year

Cool. Thanks for the link to the other thread with a picture. I definitely did not have a fish with one of these. I'll be taking my kid out tonight so who knows?
