Seems like a guy could easily get into MA 6 by launching on Whidbey and running a few miles. On paper, it would be a lot closer than 7 West, but I haven't ever shrimped MA 6 except Discovery. Anybody have a hint for places close to Whidbey?

Head out toward Lawson Reef, about 4 miles or so out, and look for all the other boats / buoys shrimping the area. That is probably your closest point. It will be a heading of about 240 once you clear the pass.

Pay close attention to the tides, its not fishable just any time. The currents can and will RIP! Your buoys can and will get pulled under or your pots might get dragged to deep water and set adrift. You need to fortify your gear, more weight, more flotation. :twocents:

For sure, I'm looking at only heading out to fish the tide change at 2 knots of current either side. We have a monster puller and the pots are weighted.
Lawson's sounds like a good place to start.
Thanks for the help guys.
