Never seen a plastic casing on a cartridge type round before. What is this?
Aprox. .223 size

Is that a blank?
Like the type used for ceremonies?

That's all I could figure it may be. The business end didn't have a hole, just a couple cross slits

Looks a lot like the blanks we used in the army but they were brass.

Snap Cap, practice pulling the trigger without dry firing the rifle.

Interesting, my Snap Caps are red bronze, shaped just like a real round.

Looks like Snap Caps come in a variety of colors and shapes.

So are they just a one shot deal ?   Primer End had a dent in it.

All my Snap Caps have a recess where the primer normally is.
I am betting that is a spent "blank".
