Hey guys.
Mind throwing up a list of the custom gun makers in WA state that you'd recommend?
East/West doesn't matter, thanks!

Travis RBros is a great guy and builds some excellent rifles. If I lived on the wet side of the Mtns he would be my "go to" gunsmith. I'm in Spokane so my go to "smith" is Shawn Carlock Defensive Edge Rifles. They're actually in Rathdrum Id. but that's just across the fence and only about 20 minutes from my driveway.
IMO, having a great gunsmith that is relatively close to your location that you can build a relationship with is priceless. I've had builds done by three different out of state gun builders as far away as PA. and they all turned out well but after using someone local to me, I can't imagine ever not using a local smith.

Thanks guys, keep em comin!

What are you looking to build?
Lightweight 25.06 with a 26" pipe, that's the plan...because they don't exist in factory rifles!

Are you building off an existing rifle, just looking for a re-barrel, have you assembled any of the parts and pieces or are you starting from scratch??

Ideally, I'd like to source the parts myself and have a shop put the rig together and get it trued up. Looking to keep things between $1500 and $2k

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My two most accurate long range rifles were both built by Benchmark Barrels in Arlington.
Benchmark built .338 Edge 1/2" @ 300 yards

Depending on how "custom" or exotic you want this build to be you should be able to get pretty close to that.
You can get a brand new Rem 700 long action w/trigger for $350 delivered. True the action $200-$225. A good custom non fluted barrel will be right around $350. Fitting, chambering, crowning, etc. on a new barrel is probably going to run around $300 give or take. Depending on what you have in mind for a stock it can run anywhere from a Boyds for $150 to 5-800 depending on what you want. Most will recommend having it bed so there's another $150-$200. Bottom metal can be as simple as a standard hinged floor plate to a detachable mag setup. You can usually find standard BDL bottom metal used but like new condition for $100 or less. Also, depending on if you want it bare metal or coated that'll be another $250 give or take.

Another vote for Benchmark in Arlington.

Wow we are fortunate to have some great smiths nearby. Didnt know Benchmark did builds thought just made barrels. And didnt realize Shawn Carlock was local - that guy wrote the book on .338 Edges.

Grabagun dot com has them for $342 + $7.99 shipping
They also have Rem 700's in ADL with a cheapy 3-9x40 scope for $349-$388 depending on the caliber. You can usually get 75-100 bucks for brand new take off barrels, depending on what they are chambered in. The scopes probably aren't worth much, maybe $50ish and those ADL stocks are usually garbage but still you take $388 minus $125 for the barrel and scope and that takes your action, trigger, follower/spring, down to around $225-$265 which is a pretty cheap setup to start your build.
I bought a couple Rem 700 ADL Varmints in 22-250 at Cabelas for $399 this past winter. Sold both take off barrels for $125 each. I'll likely end up throwing the plastic stocks away unless I find someone that wants them and I have a pretty cheap action to build off of.

Rbros all the way.

Another vote for benchmark, Shawn carlock may have wrote the book on 338 edge but benchmark is second to none on there 338 barrels.

From what I've heard, all of Benchmarks barrels are very good, but, I also think there is probably no less than about ten different barrel companies that make extremely good barrels.

I've had customs built with many different custom barrels.

I've had three that are spooky accurate. The Benchmark .338Edge, the Obermeyer 7mm WSM and the PAC-Nor .308 Baer( .30-.340 Weatherby Magnum Improved).

I can help you out for sure if you're interested, I runHells Canyon Armory. If starting from scratch, it's hard to go wrong with a Remington 700 receiver with PTG bolt. After blueprinting and TIG welding the new handle on you'll be into a very nice reliably extracting action for about $650. Barrels can be $325-$750 depending if you want non fluted steel, fluted steel, or my carbon barrel with benchmark blank. Stocks, brakes, triggers, bottom metals can all be priced out using the google machine depending on what kind of setup you want.
I charge $250 to fit a barrel to an action, $125 for timing/threading a brake, $150 for pillar bedding, $175 for cerakote if desired.... if interested let me know! I guarantee half MOA and the guys at benchmark as well as a few members on here can vouch for my work. Thank you!

@b23 do you remove the barrel from the action yourself when starting with a complete rifle or do you have it removed?

On the most recent two, while I was dropping off one of the actions for my gunsmith to build of off I had them spin the barrels off for me.

Benchmark barrels are top notch. I am running 4 and been super happy with them. I also run a few pac-nor and Krieger and have liked them a lot as well.

I've had a few Palazzo builds second hand, excellent work. I'm not sure he's still working tho, he was OLD when I met him several years ago.
I have one Brett Evans build, also purchased second hand. Great work also...
Kostinich does excellent work also.

Steve Kostanich in chehalis/adna...

The Range in Yakima builds some nice Precision rifles .
