Title: Baker lake sockeye
Post by: Buckewe on July 07, 2017, 09:22:23 AM: Sockeye on baker lake opens today. Is anyone heading out this weekend? I will be there sat and sunday for the first time. Fish count is just under 1000 fish as of today but it is just getting good.

Yes, wait until at least 3,000 fish are in the lake. About half of the fish haven't even acclimated yet. I expect it to be very slow tomorrow. Hopefully not.

Post by: Hilltophustler on July 10, 2017, 06:22:28 AM: 4 fish Saturday and blanked on Sunday. Beautiful weather. Talked to the fish truck guys. They were making double trips fri-sun. Mon-wed should be pretty good fishing if you can find the schools. Might try and seek back up saturday and give it another go.

Not that I am aware of. Fish are trucked in from the dam. But I have been know to be wrong in the past. :chuckle:

The tribe does their damage before the fish make it to the dam

I usually fish at 35' or deeper always. I troll from .7 to 1 mph typically. I don't troll in a straight line.
I make my own gear for trolling, so it isn't something that you see from Mac's or others. It works good, so I have been tight lipped on it. Otherwise it may be hanging on shelves in short order. :tup:
