Went on my new boat's inaugural salmon trip this morning. Took a neighbor and a friend's son that is staying with us for a bit. I don't think any of us really expected to catch anything. The chop was pretty bad off the south end of Lopez but dropped off after we crossed the horrible entrance to San Juan Channel.
It wasn't looking good as there was only one other boat out there at 7:30, but we hooked into one at about 8:15, landed a nice 25" hatchery King. We then caught two more, a 12 1/2 pounder at 10:00 and a 9 1/2 pound one at 10:30.
What a crazy day, I've never landed three keeper kings in one day! 125-130 feet, Q-Cove break-away flasher, green, 4' leader to a green/silver and a spatterback Coho Killer. We also caught all three, and lost another very close to each other.
And, what a great dinner! Good luck to everyone this fishing season!

Oh yeah, only one equipment failure... the depth counter on one downrigger failed to work. But, we still caught two of the three on that one. 8)

Looks like you got into them pretty good. I hit MA6 the other day and caught my limit in an hour and a half, an 8 and 17 pounder. Wind was horrible but fish are coming in good. Cop car did the trick for me. Going tomorrow and will troll a tomic plug 6-7 incher and try to get into the bigger ones.

Depending on marinating time, I use various ratios of water and soy. If overnight, half and half, if two or three hours, pure soy. I add 1/4 to 1/3 cup of brown sugar per cup of liquid. Sometimes I'll add some crushed garlic. Before grilling or smoking, I'll sprinkle black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder on it.
I leave the skin on BTW.
Went out today, caught a large fish that I thought was a coho, after releasing it, we realized it was a really nice Pink. :-( Then, we lost about a 20 pound King right at the boat as my neophyte netter wasn't quick enough, double :-( We did land one smaller pink though and lost two others right after the bite.

NICE ! And now im hungry ! Just got my boat out of the shop, screws broke off stomp grate. They charge me $907.00 to fix it, I about had to change my pants. Wish I would of had time to do it my self. They charge $129.00 an hour I think I'm in the wrong business. But its ready to go now I guess that's all that matters. Ant suggestions on where to go tha's not to from from Selah ?

The shop near my parent's place in WI charges $121 an hour. I rebuilt the three carbs on the Honda on their pontoon boat when I was back there, saved a bunch of $$ on haul out and labor.
Sorry can't help with fishing around Selah.
