Title: 8-1 crabbing
Post by: seth30 on July 12, 2017, 07:29:39 PM: This is the first year I have pulled pot after pot that was empty on a opening weekend. Anybody else having that issue? Talked to a lot of other guys on the piers and they were all pulling empties or only had females. Is it a bad year for crabs, overharvest by the commercial sources? Thinking of trying a few new places as my traditional ones are not panning out.

Post by: WSU on July 13, 2017, 09:41:51 AM: I don't think it is just tribal and commercial crabbing, although it all makes a dent. It's a down cycle right now period. Less females, less juveniles, and less keepers. It started about 3 or 4 years ago here in the south sound, which is now nearly devoid of Dungeness, and you all up north a seeing it now.
