I replaced my shocks, with used newer shocks but that was not working.
So besides shocks what do I need to do to make my ride smoother?

More info like manufacture and model of truck. Size of truck. Tires make a big difference in ride of a truck to. I had Toyo M55's on my work truck Ford F350 change them to Goodyear Duratracs and big difference in the ride.

New springs all around made a huge difference on my '72 Chevy.
-
Mine always rides smoother with a couple of hundred pounds in the back.

Chose Duratracs for my Ram 1500 for the soft ride. Run em at recommended 39 pounds .
If you aren't hauling drop tire pressures down .

Tires with a softer sidewall. Shocks that are lighter duty.

I keep an 80# sand bag right behind each wheel well. Rides much smoother then

Buy a tundra 😊 Maybe air bags :dunno:

I have an f-250 super duty 7.3 with toyo m55's. 65# in the front 55# in the rear. Never like the way the truck rode till I put Rancho 7000mt shocks and steering stabilizer on. What a difference, amazing ride now. Its firm tight and oh so smooth.

Put 1,000lbs behind the cab. Lol.

02 Chevy Silverado 2500hd.
I remember driving roads and not feeling a thing. Not like that anymore

Ball joints ever been done? Tie rods? Those HD's eat up front ends, lifted or not. Bilstein/ Rancho shocks are great. But shocks only do so much to dampen the ride.

A purse. Trucks are not supposed to ride like a car. :chuckle:

I'd ask what you mean by smoother? Is it too stiff? That seems like it's probably a 2500HD thing. If it's bouncing all over the place or something like that, I'd look at shocks and springs. But changing any of that to make it "softer" will detract from the HD part of it.
:dunno:

:chuckle: How about getting a Dodge instead? Those come with a free purse. :chuckle:

We have two 2500's. tie rod ends and bushings helped clunking in the front. Shocks all around. Airbags on the dog truck and the extra weight of the dog box makes it ride like a Cadillac.

Thinking he's overdamped? Could get the more absorbent bases and bushings. But with good shocks/springs, probably need to swap all the body mounts.

Could it be that old age is catching up on the truck operator?
-
I was recently test driving several Dodge cummins trucks and drove one that had airbags. It seemed to be slightly inflated and I noticed a significantly softer ride on the small little bumps in road. Larger bumps were the same. :twocents:

Is the truck lifted or have a leveling kit? PB

If it does then your stuck. Suspension like Thuren, Carli, Kore etc can help but $$$. Bilstein shock are better but $ as well.

:yike: oh P-man, you done did it now....... :bdid:
Better be careful, I may or may not give you a package of fire sticks or regular ones. You'll just have to eat and find out when it's time to come out the back end. 8)
