The OP is an outfitter - that's what outfitters are supposed to do. It's part of how they earn their $ in my opinion. He's not claiming to have sole rights to this bull, he just put in the work to find him and keep tabs on him. One of his paying clients will then be the recipient of that hard work by getting an opportunity at taking that bull.

How do you know that bull is even still alive if you have not yet placed your camera? As soon as I saw the pic I thought it must be last years because that picture does not match antler development for most elk right now. Also could you post the coordinates of his location so I can check on his welfare?
Most elk are pretty much done growing at this point.

Well I saw plenty of bulls a few days ago(Sunday) that still had all of their velvet on and still were growing(all of them) unlike the bull in the picture but send me the coordinates and prove me wrong.

its not hard to figure out what the bulls will look like come rut IF you have seen a bunch of bulls this time of year and see the same bulls hard horned
I think you and I are on different planets. My point was the bull in the pic was not a picture of what most bulls look like right now and the outfitter admitted the pic was from last year. If you keep posting for about three more weeks his bull from last year will look like most bulls this year. Capice?

It's a trend. Folks post a pic, other folks nitpick it apart. Initial folks don't ever post pics again. Folks that nitpick the pics never post pictures of their own. It's a vicious circle.

just because they have velvet on doesn't mean they are still growing, they spend about a month or more just hardening there antlers, they are about done growing, maybe a inch or 2 at most per tine is all they will grow still.
Agreed. The bulls in our unit start rubbing the velvet off the second week of August but they are done growing on the cams by third week of July. This is based off 5 years of game camera data.

I may have found one of the camps we are discussing after I completely misjudged the distance to a certain place. I hiked about 5 miles further than I had anticipated and there it was. I found it right after the realization that I was in so far there was zero chance of getting a bull out of there, so I spent the night and hiked back out the next day. The spot I was going to glass would have been about 12 miles from a trailhead and it wasn't a pretty 12 miles.
