Fantastic animals.  And great work on the photo.  Can't imagine that's a camera trap, so good work getting in close without spooking them.

Is it kosher to ask what general area this is in?  From the terrain and the radioactive reference, I'm guessing these are Rattlesnake bulls?

I'm so I'm extra jealous of your access to them, even to take photos.  And very happy to see such studs in the area.

The one in the back looking straight on at the camera just looks old in the face.  He has to be about tire of packing that headgear around all these years.

The one in back is over 360 and probably north of 370.  The one with all the trash I have no idea.  :dunno:

Stunning animals.  I wonder what it will take for that herd (or subherd, depending on who's talking) to be opened to harvest.

It's CLEARLY producing quality animals, so....

It's open to the wheelers  king mountain tabacco. Killed a couple monsters a few years ago and got a driving off road ticket damaging floura and fauna with two trophys in the back of his truck? Sounds fair. Have at it native son!

Don't you mean it's open in certain areas to the Yakamas'? There's been Yakamas that I know (not personally) that have hunted there years before Delbert did, they just didn't do it like he did. Hell, I'd love to, but I don't want the attention and chaos that comes with it. I'm fine way up in the mts ways away from prying eyes.

People seem to be leaving the exact location unspoken on here, but I'm speaking more of the ability to hunt this specific location.  There's some adjoining private that seems friendly to public hunting but you still need written permission (judging by the WDFW gohunt page), but unless I'm mistaken, this location where the photo was taken, while public land, is closed to all hunting.

Correct.  You cannot hunt the location posted in these photos.  But you can legally hunt this herd.

Fair enough  :chuckle:

Now if I can only find enough time to do the scouting and schmoozing with all the nearby landowners...   ;)

But wouldnt you need to be drawn for a special permit raffle or buy the auction tag to legally hunt these elk if they roam to an area where it is open

No, the unit they are in is an any bull or any elk (can't remember which) unit. They just need to venture off the hanford site while still staying in the unit, which is doable.

You are correct there are 2 or 3 units they could possibly wander into

Word of warning: it's not just the Hanford Site / Dept of Energy land that's off-limits.  The Rattlesnake and Wahluke West units and all the river banks of the Hanford Reach National Monument are closed to all access. The rest of the Monument is open though.
