woke up to fresh snow and told work to get lost. hit the woods hiked back in a couple miles to the spot ive been working for coyote ( up hill the whole way) cut some fresh tracks follow um up the road for about half a mile till they go into a clear cut. i set up start calling and after about twenty minutes i hear a yip way of in the distance then another there were at least two dogs. i keep calling and one starts coming in yipin and howling the whole way. i get him in the cross hairs at about 600 yards as hes coming in ( no i didnt take the shot) i keep calling and get him in under 100 yards in the brush and he hangs up :bash: we talk for about 15 minutes and then he starts barking at me, itry to put a stalk on him while he's barking but he busts me. i start waliking out and i hear him again ( i cant believe it ) so i give him some yips and he gives away his position at about 500 yards, i know hes not getting closer and i am capable of that shot so i set up on a stump a tke the shot. i then watch him bounce away perfectly fine. hence the AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH. i loved every minute of it what a great way to play hookie

one more thing what do you guys think my odds are up in that same spot this weekend? there's a ton of coyotes up there. the snow looks like someone ran a kennel threw there

I would go back but set up in a totally different place and try to set up closer to where you last saw them. If you can and have the capability, use a different sound. I have done this many times and it has worked in the past for me. But it is key to change the setup and sound, other wise you will be calling in one ear and out the other.

Hey buf, I'm thinking of going into Buckley Gate and pop some yotes myself. Only have double ott buck 12 gauge maybe have to be pretty close you think?

Furbearer is on this one, Go where you saw him come from. They're getting real territorial this time of year. Go where you first spotted him and call from there.

thanks for the advice guys :tup: i was figuring on trying to get down in the drainage and call from there. if it weren't for that drainage and its brush i coulda popped that yote. as far as shooting yotes with a 12 gauge, your gunna have to be a better caller than me that's for sure. i know there's guys on here that do it

12 gauge is fine where Im gonna put him.Im putting a rabbit skin hat on him LOL

i'll let ya know. im going up tomorrow morning, i picked up a new howler and some fox urine. gunna see if i cant just piss um off enough to come out and get popped :tup:
