Title: King closure in AK
Post by: Skillet on August 07, 2017, 05:46:43 PM
FYI, for those who may be planning a trip to SE AK to fish, or are otherwise interested.

For what it's worth, our commercial troll quota had over 30k fish left to catch. We lost all of that opportunity as well.  Pain shared around the table on this one.

As I understand it, yes.  Zero king retention in all of SE, regardless of group or method.  I also understand that BC was shut down last week.

Coho will likely run through Sept for me, and I'm fishing chums in Sitka Sound this week.  Maybe next week too, depends on the run.

The king closure is tough, but there's usually always something to fish for.

Ouch! After 20+ years I might skip Sitka next year. We will be up there next Wednesday not fishing for kings.
