Title: Coyote Jobs
Post by: Machias on September 05, 2017, 12:49:08 PM
Getting several calls in the last couple of weeks for coyote jobs inside Spokane.  So far had to turn them all down.  No safe way to do any trapping in most of these locations.  Sounds like the yotes are wrecking havoc in town.

I never turn them down. I tell people I'll come to there houses and use the liberal approach.

For $450.00 per day I'll talk to the coyotes and show them peace, love and understanding.

It's a win, win for everyone..

You have a trapping business?  It would be good to know if so with all the clients I have.

I am a WCO for WA.  I don't do tons of jobs, but I do a few a year.  If I can ever help, I'd be happy to try.

Fred, as a WCO, do you have the ability to use leg hold stuff or is it still all live trapping? I might have a coyote job for you that is in city limits but probably doable without catching anyone's dog. They cost me about $150 in chickens this summer and have been raising pups here the last two years. They also disappeared/ate the neighbors dog. WDFG has been notified but there is nothing they can do...so they say. He said if it was up to him, he would allow careful shooting but he said the city has the final word on that. Let me know if your interested, I'm located out by the airport. You've been to my place one time for the camera build.

I can use padded footholds with a permit.  I'd be happy to help.  I am doing a coyote job not too awful far from you.  I will send you a PM so I can get the particulars for the permit.   Usually takes a few days to get the permit back.

Went out and put in a couple of coyote sets for a nuisance job. Started to pound in the hole for the dirt hole and must have been right next to a hive. Got stung 4 times on my neck before I realized I was being swarmed. Good thing I was wearing a sweatshirt as I had 10 or 12 on my chest and shoulders. I picked a different spot for my set.  :)

Thanks bigdave

quadrafire, sure will.  I'm going back out in a couple of days and put in another set or two, I'll post a few photos of making the sets and the finished product.....and hopefully some catch photos eventually!  :)

Found another spot I got stung, this one was on my forearm, didn't notice it yesterday.  I guess cause my neck was hurting so much!  LOL

I'm sure this big muley almost stepped in one of your traps last night.  :yike: My son and I went down to check our hens in the movable pen and spooked 2 bucks down into the corner of the field. Kinda grainy pics but you get the idea.

Swung by Dave's place last night to try out a new lure.  Freshened up the 2 sets I had there and put in a third set.  Had a nice male waiting for us this morning.  I'll post a few photos tonight after work.

Nice
Dispatch w/ a .22?
Is that a heavy average wt for adult male around here? Looks pretty good size

Boom, got a nice double this morning.  2 young females, hair was very thin on both compared to the male yesterday.  I'll weigh them when I get home tonight and post some photos.  One of them was blind in her left eye.  Caught one in the remake, so 2 dogs in 2 days at that dirthole and caught the other one in a set I made 2 nights ago, the T-Bone set.  :)

Yes, they were dispatched with a .22, using the CCI Quiet rounds.

Quad,

They have been running rampant through the whole neighborhood this summer. Chased and bit my dog twice and came close to disemboweling him from the backside with just one swipe. They had a litter of three puppies and they were always hungry and of course very protective of their territory which is so close to everyone's house. Another neighbor's smaller dog got grabbed and carried away and eaten. They killed about $150 worth of chickens in one night at my place. It is about time for them to be set back a bit. Fred is an absolute wizard. The WDFG guy pretty much told me that he didn't know of any nuisance trappers they had working for them that had any luck with coyotes. Well, I just happen to know a guy.  :chuckle:

He's a nice size dog, but I have seen bigger.  He'd "look" even bigger once he furred out this winter.

Good work . Thanks  for sharing.

Dave. Sue and her folks are glad to see them gone. Been trouble for them as well. She's sad to see them die but understands how it has to happen.
