Title: Muzzleloader sight in trouble
Post by: black hog on October 04, 2017, 09:20:46 PM: A friend of mine bought a new Traditions vortek muzzleloader and we are sighting it in today and it's still shooting 8 inches high at 100 yards and the rear side is maxed out I can't adjust it any lower it'll fall off has anybody else had this problem and how can I fix it

Post by: stickbuck on October 04, 2017, 10:20:11 PM: Another dumb question. What kind of rest are you using? Is the barrel resting on the rest or is the fore-end? Resting on the barrel can cause the bullet to inadvertently fly high.

I think you want a taller front, Or remove and file the underside of the rear.

This calculator is for pistol, but should work to figure out how the new height needed.

You are correct, I mis-read the problem.

Rule is you move the rear sight the direction you want the point of impact to be and in this case the rear sight is maxed out too low so the front sight would have to be higher to move the barrel down to lower the POI

he's had his gun on back order for 3 weeks now just got it thanks for the tip though never was sorted that out myself
