Hi, I got a 1989 Kawasaki 220 bayou, It needed fixed up to be able to run, the motor turns over and everything seemed to be good on it and it was except for a few little things that I fixed. I then moved onto the starter because it wouldn't start, the battery was completely dead, so I got a new one put it on and then pressed the start, all I got was a click from the Solenoid, kept pressing start and the solenoid would just click. I got online ordered a new solenoid replaced the old one and again the solenoid just clicked even on the brand new one, I am now stuck and out of ideas on what it could be, I heard it could be the starter but I don't know for sure. Any ideas would help. Thanks.

Its likely been sitting awhile. Starter is froze up/rust. Turn it manually break it free. Tapping can work sometimes. If solenoid clicking check for voltage at starter first then break it loose and try it. Gas gummed up will likely be your next problem. Can try wd40 into starter after battery disconnect and allow plenty drying time after. Good luck.
