My 11 year old Nephew drew the Whitetail doe tag down there from Nov 9th - 19th. His dad and I have never hunted down there so we are both not sure what to expect. Looking at Onx it looks like the South end of the unit has more opportunity with the Umatilla Nat forest , and the Rainwater wildlife area . We're planning on going down next weekend to check things out . Are we on the right track ?
Thanks Allen.

I think you will have better luck looking lower than Rainwater for deer. There sre probably some landowners who would allow a youth hunter. Good luck.

Looking at Onx the Rainwater area runs all the way south in 162. If we went lower than that we would be in the Milk Creek watershed GMU..

Look the other direction. Towards Dayton.
And you can kill a deer on Rainwater.
Good Luck.

Its been a few years ago but when I was over there on my elk hunt we saw deer on Chase mountain. And on Bluewood ski resort which is forest service land and you can hunt it. At least until the snow flies! :chuckle:
