Coyotes are thicker than grouse anymore, and rabbits will depend on the area and the  year. From Tacoma you can head just about any direction BUT north and find a place to hunt any number of small game. Just make sure you understand the area is open and legal to hunt (timber land and permits, etc) and get out there. Find a few different areas, walk it, drive it whatever your method, then do it again in a month or so, you will see where the game hangs out, what the area has going on. When rabbits are plentiful coyotes will follow, when the rabbit numbers are down can make for hungry coyotes and a great time calling them. Best of luck with whatever you decide.
