Motorhomes, fifth wheels, camping trailers, tent trailers and truck campers, all loaded down with gear motorcycles and ATVs and all heading north on Highway 2/97. Tomorrow the parade should be in full force
-
I thought everyone who owns a rifle was right here in the 101 its like a NRA convention.

dont you mean circus! :chuckle:

I find it interesting how many people carry some type of orange (hat, gloves, etc.)on the dash of the vehicle
-
I thought I had a good spot picked out on the advice of a CNF officer we know but after scouting a few times earlier and falling in love with it there is no way when I show up tomorrow afternoon it won't be a zoo. He said it isn't heavily used by hunters but that might be relative.

And now I see why hunters are so tight lipped. Ain't a chance I would give a good spot away. My biggest fear is driving 3 hours and having some thief parked in my camping spot I spent months picking out.

And this is early season when many stay home waiting for the late season. The late season circus is good entertainment for sure.
-
Whole lotta business, mom and pops, diners, etc are thankfull for the orange brigade.

Not sure how anyone can stand having anything remotely reflective on the dash going down the highway.

My circus start tomorrow at 430 North to the Tonasket area. Me and 3 others got access to 15K private acres......Hope it's a good deal
-
Mine starts Saturday morning the the success potential depends on being the first one to the pond.

Man o man...... Nothing but tailers and 4 wheelers heading over 2 this evening. I've never been on the Eastside for the opener, but I can imagine..... :yike:
-
Circus started this morning when I went up to the woods. Nothing but trailers head east while I headed west :chuckle:.
The spike I saw today standing in the middle of a main road was happy all the muzzle loader elk guys left before noon :chuckle:

It's a bit of a circus, but I enjoy seeing it every year. Some of the very few days hunters are a highly visible presence on Washington highways. Not quite like Wyoming small towns erecting meat poles in front of the motels and "Welcome Hunters" banners at the main ingresses, but ...

I was thinking he said "theif" in jest.

Uughh, Hwy 2 is my only option this afternoon..... :(
But, I've got four square miles of private land to hunt when I get there..... :kneel:
:chuckle:
Going to blow off my son's doe permit for Chiwawa, maybe he can get a nice WT doe or even a buck instead.
Good luck everyone!

I'm headed the opposite way. West with 10 ton of wine grapes. I came over this morning early and saw plenty of hunters. I cant believe some of the rigs guys are towing campers with. I'm sure I can watch the east bound lanes on 90 for the next couple hours and see some doozy set ups. Good luck everyone as long as your not where I'm hunting. Then bad luck to you
-
Hwy 25 is a steady CONVOY of motor homes with trailer piled two high with 4-wheelers , trucks with campers towing four wheelers , BBQ's, and game carts , cars with roof racks full of camping gear......you get the pic. Stay safe.

Hour backup on 90 summit

-

I can't imagine what all the non-hunters that haven't a clue are thinking. :chuckle:
Now if a military convoy just happens to go by driving west they're really going to be confused.

Hwy. 2 ....... opening weekend of hunting and last weekend of Oktoberfest that’s gonna be fun up there :chuckle:

OK, here is one for you - I got in a traffic jam at the fuel distributors in Arlington. 2 good ol boys were fueling up everything you can think of for what looked to be a very well equipped camp. There were a couple rigs behind him plus myself and a very confused guy with two gas cans probably wondering if the world was coming to an end and he didn't get the text.
Two more trucks pulled in when I was getting my one gallon of saw gas and another as I was leaving.
They sell ethanol free and if there are two people there at the same time one is likely lost.

Joining the crazys at 4:30 AM to go scout Goose Prairie for elk tag. Jeez really ? Wasn't there a better time to scout than tomorrow morning ? arghhhh dang work schedules. Last minute - oh wait its over a week til the tag is good!

395 chewelah north is nothing but head lights right now.

Glad to be living over east now. I find myself staying home for the opener. Headed out Tuesday - Tuesday though up in our fav spot in the Methow.
Buddy of mine left from west side and took hwy 20 only to be greeted by 200+ cars on the side of the road waiting for it to reopen due to spin outs and wrecks. Road got nasty. He had to turn around cause it was gonna be closed for 4-5 hrs and he is just now going past Wenatchee. Yikes!
-
I'm looking down on 153 from SE of Twisp. Pretty steady stream both directions.
Glad I wasn't on the road today.

I was in that line of cars. The wait actually wasn't that long. Maybe an hour.

So glad I moved to republic. I can watch the fun from my porch without having to partake in the mess. My camp is always warm and dry. Good luck everyone.

Convoy song by CW McCall would go good with this topic. Lol

I think I'll take an extra 1 hour drive once a year to hunt over living in republic.
-
Nah. It can be rough here. Took a $20 an hour pay cut to move here. But, the locals are wonderful. Doesn't matter what time of year, it's always beautiful. And it's something I've always wanted to do. Been hunting the area for almost 30 years. It's a dream come true. It's a ton of work but I'm more than satisfied.....
