Don't have to ban guns if you can't get ammunition.
This from Women Hunters, "A newly formed organization called Ammunition Accountability is pushing legislation across the country targeting all hunting, target and personal defense gun ammunition. With the new Presidential administration being assembled as we speak (laden with gun control supporters) you can bet that this movement will pick up momentum in the coming year.
Gun control supporters got hit with a setback when the Supreme Court upheld our 2nd Amendment rights in Washington, DC. a few months ago. Now they are working to come through the back door. You’ll recall clearly that during the recent Presidential campaign, Barack Obama claimed that he was not going to take your guns away. We have yet to see if he’ll stand by his word. But is seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun world have absolutely no problem going after your ammunition – registering and taxing it.
Enter the Ammunition Accountability Act. This model bill is currently being pushed in 18 states. In general, it requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture, and a database kept of all ammunition sales. This way the government will know how much you buy and what calibers you own. A pretty sneaky way around implementing across-the-board gun registration, eh? Under this act, nobody would be able to sell ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded. Any privately held un-coded ammunition would have to be destroyed by July 1, 2011 (including hand loaded ammo).
They will also charge a 5 cent tax on EVERY round of ammunition, so every box of 50 cartridges you buy will go up at least $2.50! Not to mention the additional cost to manufactures of laser engraving every bullet they make. If they can deprive us of our ammo, or at least drive up the cost, then they do not need to take our guns!
This legislation is currently pending in 18 states:
Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

It's time to call your State Representatives folks, A firearm is pretty much a "club" without ammunition.
