:). My 10 year Olds first deer season lasted three hours when this 2pt. Stood up at 145yds. First time shooting at an Animal with his new .243. Hit it in the lungs / liver. Super happy but now he'll have to watch me try to get one with a bow next month.

Yeah he's definitely starting out better than me as well. I started archery 20yrs ago. This was my first time involved with a rifle opener since. I know it's not that easy now to keep reminding him. But I know he's definitely hooked on hunting now. I know I was shaking more than him.

Awesome jog. :IBCOOL: Congrats to your boy.

That's fantastic! I can't wait to take my boy out in a few years. Congrats on the shot too, and a great choice for his rifle.

With 100 grain did awesome. He only had time after school to shoot a box last week practicing. Luckily we used a sitting tripod. He rushed a second shot and shattered the femur then it really wasn't getting up after that.

Congratulations to your son...and to you! Well done

Love the pic of him dragging his deer out!
The work only starts when they hit the ground
-
Great Job! Of my 10 bucks I have only shoulder mounted one and that's the one I took with my father. Best buck even if it isn't my biggest.

Beautiful buck!

You have him hooked for life now, In a few years you'll be arguing over who gets what stand..

He's hooked for sure. Him and his younger. Brother already get to reel in all the fish. But nothings better than guiding them in the outdoors. Now it's on to all the Bunnies in the backyard. ;)

That's a wall hanger! Great work!

What a way to get off his first shot and connect!! Congrats to your boy!!
I have some fatherly advice for you (tongue in cheak) speaking from experience.. Get used to him wearing that hat every hunting season and DON'T LOSE IT!! LOL..
My son is 18 and I just found his hat he wore when he was 6 his first time out with me when I connected on an elk. He keeps it in his room with some other old childhood memories. He wore it for years until he shot his first deer, now keeps that one hung by his door in his room only to be worn during hunting season. My daughter went out this weekend and my she was up until 11pm Friday and didn't go to bed until she found the same hat and gloves she wore last year when she got her first deer....
Love the memories.
