I have made arrangements to hold the Winter Rendezvous at the Thurston County Fairgrounds on march 17th.
I would like to have two or three demonstrations split between fur handling and trapping.
What would you like to see?
One limitation we will have is I do not think we will be able to hang stuff to skin so well so I would prefer something that can be done on a table.
Any ideas welcome though. Heck if we can't do it at the Winter rendezvous maybe we can save it until the Summer.
Along those lines who out there fleshes rough skinned beaver on a beam? I would like to see that. Volunteers?

Bruce,
I flesh my beaver on a beam so I could do it.

I use a beam but I'm not sure a two year trapper is the best for instructions :chuckle:

I can bring my skinning machine with me so we can hang critters. I'll plan on bringing a dozen rough skinned beaver for the demo as well. Should give the instructor plenty to work with.

Bruce,
Are we serving lunch? Is there a Kitchen / lunch area? Do you want me to ask Tania to cook for us or do you have someone else?
How about auction items, do we have a area for that stuff?
Do we have enough room for the Fur Buyers and Shipping Agents?

There is plenty of room. The building is sort of long and narrow so it should provide good spacing for fur buyers, check in , CITES tagging with plenty of room for auction items to be displayed.
It is going to be a bit cramped for the meeting and auction. I think we can make it work though.
I am figuring on lunch but it is still up in the air what we will do. There is no kitchen. We do have electric outlets though and I may just get sandwiches to go with some coffee and soft drinks we provide.

It would be fun to attend, any one from Snohomish County planing on going? PM me.

Is this open to everyone and what is the cost? Is the auction just furs to be sold or is it a fundraising auction as well?

The auction is a fundraiser. So if your coming don't forget to bring some stuff to donate.

It was primarily a fur auction until a few years ago. Most of the furs are getting shipped to auction now because all the fur dealers have given it up. We still hold a auction with trapping related items and other donated items.
We offer tables to anyway interested in setting up to buy furs though. Usually a couple people buying fur. Anyone can buy fur for their own use without a fur dealers license.
Demo schedule and directions in a few days.
