So my son shot a old rutted out blacktail this wknd , he shot it on Saturday evening we backed out at dark and came back next day. We didn't find him until 1230 on Sunday still alive . We finished him off . My question is the meat seems loose like flabby I guess you could say and with a odd odor which I'm sure is from being in rut. I'm more concerned about the texture of the meat and wanted to know if any of you have experienced that.
