I'm thinking of upgrading my binos this coming year. I have a decent pair of leupold but I think I'm ready for an upgrade. I'm traditionally a leupold guy but I can't get over the look of the new leupolds. I'm also not a fan of vortex. I have about $750 budget. I'm looking Nikon maybe? Oh and I want 10x42. Any helP?

Zeiss an option? Not sure what they are running on price. Might want to hold off and save. You wont gain much in optics for only a couple hundred more than what Leupolds cost.

I really like my Minox binoculars. If you can find some local, I think it would be worth your while to check them out.

I have a pair of Nikon LX Premier 10x42 binoculars sitting around that I never use. At the time I purchased them I compared them to Swarovski and Leica models, and preferred the Nikons.

Save a couple hundred more bucks and get the zeiss conquest HD. Fantastic glass for the price. Great warranty also. They just replaced a scope of mine no questions asked with a better more expensive model. Might find them close to $800 if you shop sales :twocents:

Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42s are great. I got mine for about $850 if i remember correctly.

I'd definitely look into the Zeiss conquest HD! They're about $1000 but might find a deal somewhere. Or a used set.

I would recommend save a little more and get some swaro's....best glass I have used. Mine have been bullet proof.

I'd agree with others here on the Zeiss Conquest HD. They are unbelievable for the price. Both my wife and I own a pair and after owning darn near every other brand out there I don't think there is a better deal then the Zeiss Conquest line.

Zeiss conquest, or alternatively, Cabela’s instinct euro binoculars out of the bargain cave. Same warranty, meopta glass(on par with other alpha offerings) and close to your budget.

I have a pair of Steiners (10x42) that I love,
Clear, light, tough and for 4-5 years, bulletproof.
I have the Predetor model which was a bit more spendy 5 years ago than they are now?
At least that is how I remember it.
Anyway, great glass, I can afford more, but really don't think that more $ equals better optics.
Maybe Santa Claus will come through, ya gotta believe.

I would stay in the $300 range until you can get to the $1200-$1500 to get a gently used Swaro. Maven makes a Great $1000 set as well

I have been using some $300 Pentax 10x50s for close to 20 years now. I still really like them. My son & I received Redfield Talus 10x42s for Christmas. Heck, the Redfields look pretty good! Appears they are way under your budget...

$1000 seems like a lot up front (it is a lot!), but I guarantee you won’t regret dropping it on the conquest hd’s.

I know you say you're not a Vortex fan, but IF you decided to take a walk on the other side of the tracks, there is a pair of Vortex Razor 10x42's on here, I think for $750 (regularly $1,200). That's the bino's I run, and they are the best I have used. Cant beat their warranty, and cant beat that price... just my :twocents:

I'm hearing a ton about Maven lately, I've only looked thru 1 pair that a guide buddy of mine had. Personally I was not impressed but I don't know what model they were. I stick to my opinion that the conquest on sale for around 800 is unbeatable. I just bought the wife some Swaro slc hd's, she really wanted the Vortex cause they felt good in her hands but in the end even she realized that optical quality beats ergonomics
