I like to process my own game meet but I usually take 50# in to a butcher and get an assortment made out of it. I've always gone with B&E meats in Des Moines and they do a great job. Just looking to change it up this year.
What are everyone's favorite meat processing butchers and what do you prefer from them?

Mountain view meats on Tacoma is where I take everything. They're quick, it's fairly priced, super nice people and the bear summer sausage I had them make last year is the best wild game product I've ever had in my life.
-
My house...
I only trust them for summer sausage and pepperoni, other stuff during the season, your meat is definitely getting mixed with whoever else has meat there. You're best to save it and take it in during the off season when theres nobody else to mix it with. Too many stories of meat mixing from people working in-house at these places. :twocents:

Did you get hassled trying to get your game processed at B&E? One employee wants to get out of that at the Des Moines location.
-
Ive taken most of my game to B&E in Des Moines & burien...My huntin buddy did use Shawns in maple Valley & it turned out great as well.

Another vote for mountain view meats. Their jerky is the best I have every had. Have had many friends who do not like venison at all go to town on a package of their venison jerky.

Farmer George for Italian & Bratwurst
Stewarts for Jerky & Summer Sausage
I try to take an elk to Stewarts and a deer or two to Farmer George every year or two so that we always have these four meat products on hand.

Shawn, at Shawn's Quality Meats is the Man! I know him and use to sell him some seafood at my previous job. They have amazing smoked products, ribs, and their cuts are top tier. I have not processed their, but know he produces quality items.
-
I do all my own processing but for pepperoni I take my stuff to Johnson's smoke house in Olympia. Their pepper jack pepperoni is awesome
-
Johnsons and Northwest Sausage and deli do a great job on kielbasa and pepperoni. Won't ever take my elk anywhere else to get kielbasa done.
-
Mountain View for summer sausage only and Double T or Stewarts for pepperoni
-
I have never had any made, but a friend had Butcher Boys in Puyallup make some habanero/cheddar pep and it was some of the best I have ever had.
-
What you take to Mountain view meats is what you get back. They do not mix your meat with others! Steve and Cathy are great people.
On the other hand Stewarts does mix meat, just ask them. The North country sausage at Mtn. View is some of the best, have them vacuum
pack it for you. If you want some great 1" casing sausage, take it to Rainier Taxidermy and meat processing and get the crack sausage.
They call it crack because it is addicting!! Zach does a great job and he is probably the best taxidermist around, just be patient.
-
spent all my life in the Yelm area...spent many $$ at Stewarts. Both my wife and daughter have worked part time there on occaisions. I have never bought any meat and will never take any meat to them since. thats all i'm gonna say about that
-
I have been very happy with Lind's Custom Meats 172nd Av. in Kent west of Tahoma High School north of 240th.
-
Nobody will do as good of a job as you do, so I would say that is the best processing you can get. I'm not putting anyone down, they just can't make a profit taking the time you can at home.
-
Lind’s Meats in Kent. Top notch people and really good jerky!!!!
-
Johnsons in Olympia for 25+ years now....
-
Frances Meats in Frances, WA Best Pepperoni, Kielbasa and Summer Sausage you will have!

That's awesome that they do that. Johnson's does that as well as long as you bring in 50lbs.

:yeah:
The Only thing I buy at Stewarts is Landjaeger because they buy it from Bavarian Meats in Deattle. Stewart’s shop is filthy and if you take meat to them to process you will not get your own meat back. If you take a beef in there some of it will wind up in their cold case for sale. They do a lot for the community but their meat and handling of it is gross and well known by locals.
