Title: Weatherby or Winchester
Post by: AlbinoRhino on December 10, 2017, 11:21:31 AM: Looking into my next rifle for some time now.. I have one rifle in weatherby vanguard and another in Winchester model 70 both are older sentimental and I love them equally.. so any gun nuts out there wanna share their opinion as far as current quality vs value models of either brand... I know a lot has probably changed over the years but if you had to chose one, weatherby or Winchester what do you pick? (I am not specific to models)

I have stainless MK 5 in .257 mag
I was going to sell it as I wasnt a fan of the 26 inch barrel
Decided to to have it cut down and recrowned
Glad I did
I do really like the Ruger American though , smooth action

Post by: Wingin it on December 10, 2017, 06:21:44 PM: Model 70 all the way. My wife has a Weatherby and while it is a nice shooter it just doesn't have the same quality feel to it. Both will do the job well though. I guess that is the thing about opinions, everyone has one.

I guess the trigger on the new one is better but I don't much care for the new synthetic stock. Winchesters come with nice wood and if you got the pre-64 style action that is such a looker. Weatherby comes with a accuracy guarantee, not sure if the Winchester. Go hold them both and see which one fits you better. That is what matters most. :twocents:
