Title: Last saturday
Post by: Duckgtr on December 27, 2017, 10:03:36 AM
I went out last Saturday to my lease between Oakville and Elma with my brother and Bobcat in hopes of getting a few geese. The geese decided to not fly anywhere near us and I saw way less compared to the last time I was out there. The ducks were there and they wanted to play. We had big flocks of teal buzzing by and a few good groups of mallards came in and of course the singles and pairs. The shooting was consistent and it seemed like we were hunkering down and calling every 30 minutes as birds came by. We managed 16 birds between the 3 of us and unfortunately had a few sail on to an adjacent property as well as the river. I was surprised that I managed to get a pair of wood ducks this late in the year.

I'm envious. Beautiful birds. The public land hunting around here is so tight I've given up on it. Looks like you guys have a great spot.

It was a great hunt, thanks for inviting me to join you guys! It was the kind of duck hunt I remember from 30 years ago when I was big into waterfowl hunting.

Learned a lot too. Couple things on my list to get for next year:

1. Ear protection    :chuckle:
2. A boat like yours, or similar.

This thing was sure useful:
