Title: Transporting gear out of state??
Post by: Martinhunter on December 28, 2017, 09:31:14 PM
Just wondering what the best way is to go about getting my bow to Arizona? I’ll be flying down there in a couple weeks to go after mulies but not sure what the best way to get my equipment down there... it’s kinda a last minute trip as my buddy invited me down to go hunt with him now I’m scrambling to get things lined up. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks

Honestly - prolly throwing it in a pelican style case and UPS it to the closest depot.

Just get a hard sided case and check it in on your flight. Easy ! Done it multiple times.

:yeah: Done it lots of times. Make sure it is a good hard case, don't use a cheap one.

Thanks guys, yeah I was leaning toward the hard case and just checking it in at the gate. You’ve never had issues with your bow being damaged or bow not shooting accurate after the the flight?

I’ve got a nice hard sided case from SKB. It also has 2 TSA approved locks. It wasnt super cheap, I think I spent like , 159.00 on it, but we’ll worth the money! I bet my bow could fall out of the airplane and still be just fine and shooting straight..
I’ve personally never had any issues with my bow after flights. It’s also always shown up.. ya just check it like any other piece of luggage. Sometimes it shows up in the “over sized luggage” area at your destination. I’ve flown through to Phoenix maybe 3 times with my bow now and never had a problem. If you get a case that doesn’t have built in locks, you can get TSA approved locks on amazon pretty cheap.
