The 2018 Washington Legislative Session is set to convene this upcoming Monday, and the Senate Law & Justice Committee has indicated it will hold a public hearing on multiple gun bills on the following Monday, January 15th from 10:00AM-12:00PM. The committee agenda has not yet been posted for which bills will be heard; however, anti-gun legislators have already made it clear they are going to push several sweeping gun control bills this year.
Senate Bill 5050, sponsored by Senator David Frockt (D-46), and House Bill 1134, sponsored by Representative Strom Peterson (D-21), would prohibit all possession, purchase, sale or transfer of commonly owned semi-automatic rifles and ammunition magazines holding ten or more rounds.
Senate Bill 5444, sponsored by Senator Frockt, and House Bill 1387, sponsored by Representative Laurie Jinkins (D-27), would impose a registration-licensing system for commonly owned semi-automatic rifles and ammunition magazines holding ten or more rounds.
Senate Bill 5463, sponsored by Senator Frockt, and House Bill 1122, sponsored by Representative Ruth Kagi (D-32), would require individuals to lock up firearms or potentially face Class C Felony charges. This intrusive government legislation invades people’s homes and forces them to render their firearms useless in a self-defense situation by locking them up.
Senate Bill 5992, sponsored by Senator Kevin Van De Wege (D-24), would make it a crime to knowingly possess a firearm accessory or any other device, part or combination of parts that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm.
Senate Bill 6049, sponsored by Senator Frockt, would prohibit the possession of ammunition magazines holding ten or more rounds, with limited exceptions.
It’s IMPERATIVE that Second Amendment supporters make their voice heard during these hearings and throughout the legislative session. If you are able to, please plan to attend the committee hearing in Olympia on January 15th.
GET THERE EARLY!!!

Plan on being there at 8:00AM if you want a spot in line to sit in the Hearing Room and/or want to testify.
-
The word is that the chair (Democrat) is holding off on publicly stating which bills will be discussed. So much for government transparency
I've heard through back channels that the anti-gun folks are busing people in via charter buses from all over Washington and from the Portland area!
The time is NOW to take a stand.

Alternatively, you can stay home, sit on your asses, and whine and bitch about your gun rights being taken away...your choice.

It really angers me when they try to make stuff many people already own and have owned for years illegal to have , just because they don't like it .

I agree.....I'm a little disturbed at the lack of response from shooters and hunters, for the most parts its been crickets.......this thread should have 2k views and comments out the kazoo......don't worry someone else will handle it.

Thank you.
By “early” I mean 8:00AM. Last year the NRA recommended getting there about and hour beforehand and there was already a line out the door of anti-gun people wearing orange scarves. They were extremely well organized.

I’ve said it before... Just look south for your future. The way Washington copies California is almost comical. Who cares about being original when your neighbor (idol) to the south has so many great ideas?
Good luck, guys. We will never be back. Will be selling 5.5 acres in Spokane county this spring.

SO your not in Colorado?

I am in Colorado. We bought 5.5 acres years ago with plans of returning and building a home. It’s in the deep creek area outside of airway heights. We really feel at home in Colorado, and neither of us can see going back to Washington now that things are on the California fast track.

True, but in some states they’re still treated like the wackjobs they are.
-
Has CO changed some? Magill left, the had some of the same stupid gun laws past that we are now facing...
I'm curious as to why you think CO is in much better shape than WA.... my General Impression is the I'D, WY& UT are the main states doing preventative things to stave off Californication.

LOL...
I just emailed Governor Inslee and tried reasoning about how useless these bills are.
There goes 5 minutes of my life that I'm never getting back.
