There will be new goat permit hunts in the Margaret backcountry and on Mt St Helens. Also splitting the Goat Rocks into 2 separate permit areas. A West and an east.

Goat numbers in those new Goat areas have gone up over the years. Glad they have hunts now.

There was a goat count in there last year but i don't know what the final numbers were or if WDFW was able to helicopter count after boots were on the ground.

I was thinking the Alpine Lakes area would be the next new goat hunt but I guess I was wrong.

It's open to the raffle and auction tags.

Nothing wrong with that, however that unit has enough population of goats to easily give out 3-6 tags. Theres a lot of subherds throughout the unit in isolated places that the biologists obviously don't know about. Some huge billies in those subherds too.

Probably the most controversial unit in terms of why are there no tags....

I'm no goat guy but I saw a Billy up there about twenty yards from some elk, the thing was almost as big as some of the cows. Really wish I could still apply for that tag
